Branden Nicholson's "31 Days of Inspiration"

Media personality Cyrus Webb is excited to share daily words of encouragement from celebrity model/fitness trainer Branden Nicholson of B. Nick Fitness in California during the month of December, heading into the New Year. The purpose? To encourage others to be the best of themselves each and every day.

Take out time to visit our website each day to find a daily dose of motivation and visit Branden online at www.facebook.com/b.nickfit

Day One:  New day, new attitude...Take control, stay positive and be great!
Day Two:   The reason why people give up so fast is because they tend to look at how far they still have to go, instead of how far they have come.
Day Three:  If you're not growing, then you're not living. You should never be the same person two days in a row. Make it your goal to get better!
Day Four: When you are going through something hard and wonder where GOD is, remember that the teacher is always quiet during the test.
Day Five: Don't give up on what God has called you to do. The end result is worth the pain. Keep the faith.
Day Six: Today is all about choices. Choose to count your blessings rather than your problems!
Day Seven: You may be the only one that can see your vision, but if you can see it that's all that matters.
Day Eight: Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
Day Nine: The same people that are hoping you fail will be the same ones that will have to watch you succeed. Never stop. Always keep going!
Day Ten: The WRONG people in your life will keep the RIGHT people out. You've only got a few spaces so choose well!
Day Eleven: You are where God wants you to be at this very moment. Every experience is part of His divine plan.‪
Day Twelve: All liabilities must be let go! If they aren't building you up then they're tearing you down.
Day Thirteen: An original is always worth more than a copy. Be original!
Day Fourteen: When you focus on problems, you'll have more problems. When you focus on possibilities, you'll have more opportunities.
Day Fifteen: People who judge you by your past don't belong in your present.‪
Day Sixteen: Look around...Is this where you wanna be? If not, now is the time to decide to change it! The power lies in you.
Day Seventeen: Don't let your thoughts talk you out of the changes you want for yourself. Your body can do anything. It’s just your brain you have to convince! ‪
Day Eighteen: Get up & Go forward! Let go of the past so you'll have a free hand to open the door to your future!
Day Nineteen: They can copy you but they can't be you. Just keep being a better you and get a kick out of them trying to keep up.
Day Twenty: There are quick fixes for everything in life, but greatness is not achieved in one day. It is a process that each of us must experience.
Day Twenty-One: Don't let a bad day make you feel like you have a bad life.
Day Twenty-Two: You can't expect to live a positive life around negative people.
Day Twenty-Three: I Will NEVER lower MY standards, to RAISE someone else's!
Day Twenty-Four: Direct your thoughts today because your thoughts will direct your day.
Day Twenty-Five: ‪Temptation doesn't surrender. You have to come ready to fight everyday!
Day Twenty-Six: If you don't invest in yourself then your dreams will go bankrupt.
Day Twenty-Seven: Not everyone's opinion should be relevant in your life. Stop making irrelevant people relevant.
Day Twenty-Eight: Never let your,"mind"bully your body!
Day Twenty-Ninth: One day, you'll be just a memory for some people. Do your best to be a good one.
Day Thirty: Want to see your biggest opponent? Look in the mirror.
Day Thirty-One: Don't stress. Do your best. Forget the rest.

JuVee Productions' THE BRINK reminds us that we have nothing to fear but fear itself

by Cyrus Webb

Emmy award-winner Viola Davis is a true visionary and with Julius Tennon she has created JuVee Productions, a company that is all about promoting creativity and allowing important issues and stories to be told. This is definitely seen in their newest original short The Brink.

I don't want to give too much of it away but the storyline is one that all of us can relate to when it comes to going for what we want in life and wondering if 1) we are capable of achieving it and 2) are worthy of it. Written and starring Kaylon Hunt, we are able to see the simple truth: unless we go for whatever it is that we desire we will never know what is possible.

One of the most powerful lines in the short film is this: "It's your own fear that is holding you back, but only if you let it." The next time you feel as though you can achieve something or that a goal is out of your reach I hope you will reflect on those words, and then face your fear head-on.

Captivating and so inspiring from beginning to end, THE BRINK reminds us that we have nothing to fear but fear itself.

Truth Be Told, Super Producer Will Packer Is A Force to Be Reckoned With

by Cyrus Webb

Will Packer has worked with some of the brightest stars in Hollywood, and in the process has made a name for himself as one of the "go-to" guys for quality projects that break stereotypes and records. With a string of  #1 movies and now a highly anticipated television show on NBC called TRUTH BE TOLD, he continues to show why he is one of the best in the business. "This is a challenging industry," he told me during our interview for Conversations this year. "It's tough to get into, and tough to maintain a level of success once you are in. It's a lot of hard work."

The hard work has been paying off big for Packer so that critics and movie goers alike have responded favorably to his work on the screen. He says the response is a "true validation" for his dedication to the craft. "That's the kind of validation you hope for when you are working those long hours. You hope for that kind of validation, so it feels good when you get it."

When discussing how he has been able to make his mark in Hollywood but not been changed by the industry Packer says the key is that he makes time to "get out of the Hollywood bubble" and visit his home in Atlanta. By doing this he is also showing that you can work in Hollywood and not have to become 'Hollywood' in order to "make it."

Packer also makes the time to give back as much as possible, paying it forward for the next generation. "I take the opportunity to try to work with others who have shown that they have what it takes," he says. "You can't help everybody, but you can lead by example. I try to set an example of what it takes to be successful in this industry." For him the ingredients include "hard work, having good people around you and having a lot of faith."

His advice for anyone who wants to be successful in whatever they are doing? "You never know where you are going to end up. Whatever you are doing give it 110%. You can't just decide one day to start being great. You have to give 110% everyday, even if it's a job that you don't particularly love. When the opportunity arises you got to be ready for it. You have to be used to always working hard."

Watch the new show TRUTH BE TOLD (starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar as Mitch and Tone Bell as Russell) Friday nights on NBC @ 8:30p.m. et/7:30p.m. ct, and tweet using the hashtag #TruthBeTold and the twitter handle @NBCTruthBeTold.

Mississippi Media Personality Cyrus Webb Pays Tribute to author Jackie Collins

For over 20 years media personality Cyrus Webb was a fan of international bestselling author Jackie Collins, however, in 2013 the Mississippi native also got to call her a friend.

As host of the radio show Conversations LIVE, Webb has interviewed over 6k guests in his 12 years on the air, but when it came to reaching out to Ms. Collin's publicist he was nervous. Ms. Collins passed away on Sat. September 19, 2015. In this one-hour special Webb shares their three interviews together and pays tribute to the woman who touched millions around the world through the power of words.

Why I Traveled from Mississippi to New York to Meet Jackie Collins

20 years.

Before 2015 that is how long it had been before I walked the streets of New York. I was 19 years old the last time I was there, and though my intentions were always to come back for a visit or to catch a show, it never happened. That is until June 2015.

So what brought me back to the Big City all the way from Mississippi? Two words: Jackie Collins.

I have been a fan of her books for over 25 years, and have had the honor of interviewing her now 4 times on my radio show Conversations LIVE as well as feature her in the pages of Conversations Magazine. We have chatted, laughed together and stayed connected---but never met. So when I was offered the opportunity to not just discuss her new book THE SANTANGELOS with her over lunch but have some one-on-one time, there was NO WAY I could resist.

On Wednesday, June 17, 2015---just one day after her new book released---I found myself at the Hotel Plaza Athenee in New York at an event hosted by Socially Speaking and Get Red PR with other fans/bloggers/journalists sitting at the table with the international bestselling author.
She was everything you would have hoped she would be: gracious, confident and all too ready to discuss her new book and to listen to us as well.

It was intriguing to hear her discuss the characters she has created, the parallels to pop culture today and even elaborate on her love of creating strong female voices in her books.

I could not have asked for a better experience, especially when it came to getting my book signed and reading her inscription...

Not only has Jackie Collins created a timeless character in Lucky Santangelo but she, herself, is timeless as she shows no signs of slowing down, even discussing with us her autobiography that is now in the works.

The time with Ms. Collins was well worth the trip, and I would happily do it again.

Cat Hair in My Coffee by Just Jennifer

I am a busy mom with 2 of my 3 children still at home. I also have a household to run alone, a full-time job, and this writing gig. My life is hectic. My home is usually messy, my laundry is never quite finished (I wash it, it just doesn't get put away), and I'm sure I've forgotten what color my hair once was (brown? Surely not this speckled grey color). Don't judge me...my kids are healthy and, except for the occasional rant, quite happy. But this morning started out all wrong. At 6 a.m. on a Saturday morning, I woke up to the family cat, Annabelle, screeching outside my bedroom door. I jumped out of bed, enthusiastically ready to start my day (or saying a few choice words and groaning...it's really all about perception). I was awake and I was moving, so I thought I might as well get some coffee brewing. Being that the little one (as I refer to the youngest of the brood) was still asleep, I made sure to tiptoe past her bedroom. As I finished starting my brew and sat on my favorite end of the couch I heard it: the familiar sound of the little one tossing and turning. For those of you who are parents, you know the sound. And what do we do? We sit very still, we hardly breathe, we slowly reach for the television remote and turn it off....anything that might keep her asleep for another 30 minutes. That's what good parenting is, right? Ensuring your children get enough sleep? Ok, stop judging me. I heard the little one settle down and made my way to the kitchen for my cupful of morning bliss. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed my favorite hand warmer mug and poured my dark roast cup of love. Yes, I love coffee. I love it like I love wine, but that's another story. As I lifted my own personal bit of joy in the mornings to my lips, I saw it: a big, bold, arrogant cat hair in my coffee. What did I do? I scooped it out and drank my coffee!! The point of all this is to simply say that a cat hair in my coffee is minor. It's nothing. Whether the house is clean, the laundry is folded, or the little one stays asleep long enough for me to indulge in my morning brew peacefully...these are the small things in life. Take them as such. Simply scoop the cat hair from your coffee, take a satisfying drink, and save your energy for the big things. But, that's just my opinion.

Cyrus Webb Presents... "Branden Nicholson's '31 Days of Inspiration'"

Conversations Media Group President Cyrus Webb is excited to share daily words of encouragement from celebrity model/fitness trainer Branden Nicholson of B. Nick Fitness in California. The purpose? To encourage the reader to be the best of themselves each and every day.

"We have enough negativity in the world," says Webb. "I'm glad to share Branden's motivating quotes to help spread some positivity."

Kimberly Sims' KS Media Group Proves that Dreams Can Come True

When Kimberly Sims couldn't find the opportunities she wanted to pursue her goal and dream of modeling she did what any brave individual would do: she created her own opportunity.

Now the 35 year old single mother of Gulfport, Mississippi has started KS Media Group, a place where others can have their goals and dreams encouraged and nurtured as well as supported.

"We have to stop allowing others to tell us how far our present situation can take us," says Sims. "I know that I am talented. I trust in my abilities. Now it's up to me to share that with the world, and I want to help others do the same thing."

The mission of KS Media Group is to provide an outlet for individuals who are up-and-coming in the entertainment industry (i.e. modeling, acting, dancing, singing) so they have a platform to showcase and promote their talent as well as network with other like-minded visionaries.

"I've been wanting to do this for years," Sims explains, "but I was hesitating...letting doubt and fear stop me. Then I was encouraged by Stanley Clark of Holmes County to just go for it. With him agreeing to join me as a Consultant and Manager I began to take the first steps and do the work to make my dreams come true."

Stanley Clark of Real Deal Entertainment has been pursuing his own passion for music for quite some time and has seen his hard work pay off. His artist Ziggy of Yazoo City, Mississippi is signed to AMS Entertainment and has shared the stage with some of the biggest artists in the industry. Clark says he could see Sims' passion and wanted to help in any way that he could.

"It feels great to know that I inspired Kimberly to do what she loves," he says. "That is what we all have to do. If you don't see doors opening for you then create the opening and be brave enough to walk through it."

Stay connected with the happenings of KS Media Group at www.facebook.com/ksmediagroup. You can contact Kimberly at kimberlysims55@gmail.com and Stanley at sclarkpickens@gmail.com or 1.662.528.0059.

A Conversation with Actor Clay Chappell from the movie SELMA

by Cyrus Webb

One of the most talked about movies of the year has been Selma, and those associated with the film have been getting critical acclaim for their roles. One of those who is seeing his character the Registrar get quite a bit of attention is actor Clay Chappell.

“It’s been fantastic,” he says. “Such a ride since the movie came out, but it’s been a blessing. I’m honored to have been a part of it.”

When discussing what about acting initially spot to him Clay says this: “I watched my brothers in one-act plays growing up. I did a play at 10 years old and was told I was a natural born actor. I loved the feeling you get when you are performing. I loved the power in making someone else feel the way that I feel when I see a moving film.”

Over the years Clay has gotten the opportunity to be a part of great projects that have gotten a lot of buzz like Footloose and A Lesson Before Dying. “One of the great things about acting is that you get to be someone else for a little while,” he says. “It’s a lot of fun.”

One of the ways that people have found out about this roles and discussed the movie Selma has been through social media. “Twitter and Facebook allows me to meet others,” Clay says. “It is a great way to get out there and let people know what you have going on and what to look forward to.”

And what has been the key to his success? Clay says it’s being consistent. “You have to be persistent, keeping after it and sticking to it. One role can change your life. I credit my mom and my dad for bringing me up and letting me believe that I can accomplish anything and that all dreams are possible if you just stick with it good things will happen.”

Though Clay has been busy pursuing his own goals and dreams, he hasn’t been too busy to give back to others. “We have a playhouse that does wonderful productions. I love for them to ask me what they should be doing. It’s really a pleasure to pass along advice that I have.”

Going back to the scene in Selma that people continue talking about starring Clay and Oprah, he says it was “truly a blessing.” Like many others he watched the Oprah Winfrey Show and dreamed about one day being on the couch talking with Oprah. “To do a scene with her was really remarkable.”
Talking about the message of Selma, Clay says “it’s so uplifting and powerful. It shows what you can accomplish with strategy and people coming together. (Selma is) everything that a great movie should be.”

Regardless of playing one of the “bad guys” in Selma, Clay says that “most of my comments were we know you really are a nice guy.” He then added with a laugh: “I was happy with it, was proud of it. Oprah was pretty good herself.”

Clay says that being a part of Selma also confirmed for him that he “wants to keep acting, doing good projects that mean something.”

What advice does he give about the importance of pursuing your goals and dreams? “You just can’t give up. If you’re passionate about it, good things will happen if you just keep striving. I know that if I keep working hard I’ll be blessed with more opportunities. Don’t define yourself by a certain pinnacle. If you have something you love to do and you’re working towards it learn to embrace it and enjoy the ride. Enjoy the journey of actually doing it.”

Selma is in theaters now. Stay connected with Clay on Twitter at www.twitter.com/chappellclay.

Alex Haley's Grandson Michael Baker Steps Out of the Shadows Into His Destiny

by Cyrus Webb

For many people Alex Haley’s book ROOTS (and the subsequent movie that it inspired) was a turning point in not just showing the history of a family but the challenges and struggles of a people and even a nation. It showed that in spite of your circumstances you could move forward and achieve something great, even though the path ahead was not easy.

Few understand that better than Michael Baker, the first grandson of Alex Haley himself. His mother Lydia Haley, first daughter of Alex and Nannie Haley, shared with him the lineage that he came from, but who would have known that his own life would be full of its own challenges and obstacles, extreme highs and devastating lows.

“It didn’t really hit me until I was about 17 the phenomena of Roots and who my grandfather was,” Baker told me. There was so much talk about the Haley name and who he was from, that there were times that he felt almost invisible. “I was Alex Haley’s grandson, not Michael,” he says.

For anybody trying to find themselves and discover their own path, this would make things extremely difficult. Baker would go on to rebel, finding himself on the wrong side of the law and even incarcerated for over a decade. That time in prison, however, was the beginning of his own inner freedom.

“I began to ask myself the important questions like ‘Who am I?’ and “Where am I going?” When he was released from prison in 2000 he then began a serious quest to discover the answers.

Today Michael Baker is a husband and father living in Newport, North Carolina. He carries his father’s last name, but he is proud of the family he is from and what they have contributed to not just the nation but the world. “I will always be Alex Haley’s grandson,” he says, “and I’m okay with that. But I am also Michael: a man who has made mistakes, learned difficult lessons and now have something that I can pass on to my family and the world.”

Michael hopes to use what he has been through to help young people understand and appreciate that what they have done and where they come from doesn’t have to define them. “We are all in this thing together,” he says. “We have to get past names and what we see and appreciate people for what they have to contribute to the world.”

Currently Michael is working on a book of his life and experiences and during the months of February and March he will be traveling throughout Raleigh, Charlotte, Newport, Wilmington,Greenville and Myrtle Beach, sharing his story and reminding young people and even adults what is possible for them. For more information or to schedule an event contact Michael at michael@alexhaley.com.
